Young Architects by Urban Fun Clubs is a structured after-school programme for KS1 and KS2 pupils (ages 6–12) that focuses on architecture, cities, and design.

The Young Architects programme offers schools a reliable, safe, and engaging enrichment option that builds creativity, confidence, and real-world understanding while requiring minimal staff involvement.

What We Offer

  • Young Architects is designed for KS1 and KS2 pupils (ages 6 to 12)

  • We deliver engaging sessions that combine short presentations with hands-on projects, helping pupils develop skills in sketching, technical drawing, model-making, and presentation.

Each term follows a different curriculum theme, covering areas such as architectural styles, urban design, and materials. This ensures variety, progression, and continued engagement for pupils. Sessions are designed for up to 20 pupils, with all materials provided, making delivery simple and convenient for schools.

Each session begins with a short presentation, followed by a practical activity where pupils apply their learning through creative projects. This approach supports the development of creativity, confidence, and problem-solving skills.

  • Urban Fun Clubs is founded and led by PhD-qualified urban design academics and former university lecturers. Our founders have over 15 years of experience in education.

With over three years of experience, we have successfully delivered programmes in several South West London schools, including Deep Park School, Vineyard Primary, Hampton Court House, and Kensington Prep.

We offer schools a reliable, safe, and engaging enrichment programme that supports pupil development and requires minimal staff involvement.

  • Urban Fun Clubs prioritises safety and quality in all its operations:

    • All educators are DBS checked

    • Full public liability insurance in place

    • Staff trained in safeguarding procedures

This ensures a high standard of teaching alongside full compliance with school safeguarding requirements.

  • For Pupils:

    • Exposure to new disciplines not typically covered in the curriculum

    • Development of creative and technical skills

    • Increased confidence through project-based learning

    • Enhanced teamwork and communication

    For Schools:

    • A unique, high-quality enrichment offering

    • Professionally delivered sessions with minimal staff involvement

    • Strong alignment with STEM, arts, and sustainability themes

    • Increased parent engagement and satisfaction

  • Schools are increasingly expected to provide extracurricular activities that are both engaging and educational. However, many after-school clubs lack structured learning outcomes or meaningful skill development.

Young Architects addresses this need by offering a curriculum-led programme that combines creativity with real-world knowledge—helping pupils develop both academic and transferable skills.

Teaching Methodology

Introduction

A short, engaging presentation introduces key concepts. This helps spark curiosity and gives pupils a clear understanding of the session's focus.

Application

Pupils work on a related hands-on project. Depending on the day's topic, this is when children sketch, draw, or model, allowing them to explore ideas creatively and develop practical skills.

Reflection

Children present and discuss their ideas. This encourages confidence, critical thinking, and the ability to learn from both their own work and others’ ideas.
